Carbon Footprint Calculator
See how much CO₂ you can save by extending your IT equipment’s lifecycle.
From a linear IT model to a circular economy
Is it time to rethink the IT lifecycle?
The way we manage IT hardware has a significant impact on the environment. Traditionally, devices are produced, used for a short period, and then discarded — a linear model that contributes to rising CO₂ emissions and growing e-waste.
In fact, up to 80% of an IT device’s total carbon footprint is generated during raw material extraction and manufacturing — long before it’s even powered on.
Evernex takes a different approach.
As a circular IT provider, Evernex helps organizations extend the life of their hardware through reuse, refurbishment, and ongoing maintenance. This shift from linear to circular not only reduces capital expenditure, but also:
- Lowers carbon emissions by minimizing the need for new production
- Preserves valuable resources by keeping hardware in use longer
Curious about the impact of circular IT on your organization’s footprint?
Try our carbon footprint calculator to see how extending your IT hardware’s lifespan can help cut emissions and support a more sustainable digital future.

Our goal is to help you make informed decisions by offering a transparent, conservative estimate of potential CO₂ savings.
Calculations based on real data
How does the carbon footprint calculator work?
Our easy-to-use tool offers you a transparent estimate of the carbon emissions you can avoid when you retain and reuse your IT equipment. By extending the life of your IT assets, you actively contribute to a more sustainable economy. It takes just minutes to find out how much CO2 you can save.
At the moment, we cover:
- Servers
- Data storage devices
- Network equipment
Just tell us how many assets you have of each and how long you want to extend their lifecycles by. We compare the average CO₂ emissions produced by the devices to the embodied emissions of a new device. This shows you how much you can save.

FAQ
Have more questions about our carbon footprint calculator?
How do you measure avoided CO₂ emissions?
Our carbon footprint calculator estimates avoided emissions using trusted third-party sources such as Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), manufacturer environmental reports, and scientific databases. By comparing the embodied carbon of new IT equipment with that of extended-use hardware, we calculate the CO₂ savings achieved by reuse and lifecycle extension. All values are based on conservative, transparent averages to prevent overestimation, guaranteeing an objective result.
Is the CO₂ calculation certified?
The online calculator itself is not externally certified, but it relies on verified third-party data. Evernex has also developed a certified carbon savings methodology in collaboration with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). This certified approach is used in our Third-Party Maintenance and Spare as a Service – SPaaS™ contracts to ensure precise, auditable carbon assessments. For broader reporting, we recommend validating the results with your organization’s sustainability metrics.
What types of IT equipment are included in the calculator?
Our tool currently covers servers, data storage systems, and networking devices—key components of modern data centers. We continue to expand our database to include additional categories of IT assets as new environmental data becomes available.
