Inside the Evernex Technical Academy: 7 Questions, 7 Answers
The Evernex Technical Academy, a key part of our Evernex Innovation lab in Massy, France, was launched in the summer 2024 as a premier hub for data center equipment expertise. Designed to support engineers in mastering a wide range of hardware brands and models, the academy offers hands-on training to enhance technical skills and deepen knowledge. Explore our latest Q&A with Nicolas Ahiskali, Global Technical Director, and Cedric Fourgous, VP Global Operations, to learn more about the Evernex Innovation strategy and its role in driving IT sustainability.
Could you explain the primary purposes of the technical academy?
The Evernex Technical Academy was established to elevate our technical teams’ capabilities by providing a structured, hands-on learning environment focused on multi-brand hardware expertise.
Our engineers are trained to master a wide array of technologies enabling them to deliver fast, accurate diagnostics and proactive support. This translates directly into improved customer satisfaction and faster resolution times.
The Academy also plays a strategic role in supporting the growing demand for IT lifecycle extension. As more companies aim to reduce capital expenditure and embrace more sustainable practices, the ability to maintain and repair existing infrastructure becomes a competitive advantage. By expanding our network of highly skilled technicians, we empower clients to maximize the lifespan of their equipment—minimizing electronic waste and reducing the environmental footprint associated with new hardware production.
Operating a multi-vendor IT environment?
Evernex engineers have deep expertise across all major OEMs—and support 692,000 systems worldwide.
How do you train engineers based outside of France?
As a global company operating in over 165 countries, providing consistent, high-quality training to teams worldwide is essential.
To make this possible, we’ve equipped our Massy Innovation Lab’s main training room with an advanced conferencing and broadcasting system. This setup enables engineers from anywhere in the world to join live sessions remotely, participate in interactive demonstrations, and follow every detail as if they were physically present in the lab.
This approach significantly lowers the geographic & budget constraints traditionally associated with in-person technical training. It allows us to upskill engineers regardless of their location, ensuring that all teams stay aligned with the latest technical knowledge and operational best practices.
There are over 100 courses on offer at the technical academy. What are some of the most popular courses/themes so far?
Our training catalog is extensive and designed to evolve alongside both customer needs and emerging technologies. While our engineers are eager to explore the latest advancements, the most popular courses tend to reflect the brands and systems we actively support for our clients.
Currently, high demand is seen for training on storage and server solutions from major OEMs. Among the most requested topics are HPE Nimble or Primera, Dell Compellent, and Huawei hardware.
What impact has the technical academy had on business since opening?
The Evernex technical academy has a direct effect on our business and our ability to serve our customers efficiently and seamlessly. The IT industry is progressing in leaps and bounds – the more training our teams undergo, the better equipped they are to assist clients with the increasingly complex issues they face.
Another benefit we are seeing as a business is that training more engineers from the ground up expands our teams, allowing us to reach more clients than ever before and cut response times due to greater availability.
And of course, combining the Technical Academy with internal R&D projects allows us to add new technologies to our portfolio. This regularly opens new doors in our engagements with existing or new customers.
What can participants expect to gain from the academy?
Participants at the Evernex Technical Academy benefit from a comprehensive learning experience that blends theory with hands-on application across a wide range of data center technologies. The courses are designed to strengthen both foundational knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills, empowering engineers to work confidently across multi-brand environments.
Beyond technical training, the Academy supports professional growth. Upon completion of each course, participants receive Evernex technical certifications—recognized internally as a mark of expertise and commitment to quality.
What role does the technical academy play in Evernex’s mission to create a more sustainable IT industry?
Primarily, the Evernex technical academy trains technicians to effectively extend the lifecycles of IT hardware through knowledgeable repairs, support and part-replacements using refurbished components. All these practices, which are at the heart of Evernex’s business, contribute to mitigating the negative environmental impacts of the IT industry.
In terms of the academy premises and facilities, our buildings are energy-efficient and implement circular practices. These include, but are not limited to, reusing the waste heat generated by servers and using recycled cardboard for our spare parts.
Looking to reduce your environmental impact?
Our services help extend the life of your hardware—supporting a circular IT model that benefits both your business and the planet.
Who can enroll at the technical academy?
The primary mission of the Evernex Technical Academy is to upskill our internal engineering teams, ensuring they have the technical expertise required to support a wide range of IT environments.
However, the Academy goes beyond purely technical roles. We also offer tailored courses for non-technical profiles—such as sales, operations, or support staff—giving them a solid technical foundation and a deeper understanding of Evernex’s services and solutions. This cross-functional knowledge strengthens collaboration across departments and enhances customer interactions.
Additionally, we provide compliance and technical training to our external partners. These sessions ensure that third-party technicians working on behalf of Evernex follow the same high standards, procedures, and best practices as our in-house teams when operating within customer infrastructures.
