Evernex South Africa awarded Level 1 B-BBEE certification for another year

Evernex is delighted to announce that we have received the top B-BBEE rating for another year. This is the seventh year we have been awarded a B-BBEE certification, and the sixth time we have received the highest ranking.

Our Level 1 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment certification provides official recognition of our commitment to racial equity, inclusivity and economic transformation in South Africa.
Community engagement is a core element of Evernex’s corporate social responsibility objectives, striving to provide opportunities and develop lasting relationships with local communities across South Africa. Reflecting our consistent and proactive efforts, we have earned a B-BEEE score of 105.42 points out of a possible 107.

What is the B-BBEE award?

The Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment certification is awarded to businesses which comply with the 2003 B-BBEE Act 53, taking measurable actions to incorporate black South African into the country’s economy. These steps contribute both to South Africa’s financial performance and the empowerment of black communities.

The B-BBEE certification is based on compliance with five pillars of black empowerment:
• Ownership.
• Management Control.
• Skills Development.
• Enterprise And Supplier Development.
• Socio-Economic Development.

What does the award mean for businesses?

By partnering with Evernex, businesses also increase their own B-BBEE scores through preferential procurement. Preferential Procurement is a considerable aspect of Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD), prioritizing suppliers who meet specific B-BBEE compliance levels.

A high B-BBEE rating gives businesses a significant competitive advantage, as many tenders give points to B-BBEE-compliant enterprises. B-BBEE-certified companies are also eligible for direct and indirect incentives.

On a larger scale, the Act was established to redress deeply rooted economic and employment inequalities in South Africa. By participating in this program, businesses demonstrate their dedication to a fairer and more profitable economy for everyone.

STEM education collaboration

Evernex helped fund a flagship education initiative by the SA Medical and Education Foundation (SAME), in a project which reached completion this year. The goal of the foundation’s initiative is to strengthen STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education across South Africa, opening the door to a range of careers for the new generations.

Our ongoing donations have contributed to the development of two fully equipped computer centers and three state-of-the-art science labs for the Ikusasa Comprehensive School in Gauteng.

Donations for enterprise development

Donating to small, up-and-coming businesses empowers entrepreneurs with resources and helps to create jobs, while stimulating local economies and driving innovation. Economic donations also support transformation goals by enabling sustainable enterprise development.
